Forest of Dean based charity Breathe Youth has been awarded a Community Impact Grant of £12,900 over three years by the Benefact Trust in support of its mentoring programme.

Breathe’s mentoring programme was established in 2014 and supports young people aged 10-18 years across the Forest of Dean who are facing challenges. Support is provided for at least one year by volunteer mentors.

The funding will contribute to the employment of a Mentor Coordinator who will manage the programme and enable the charity to meet the growth in demand for its  service. The Mentor Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting, training and supporting the volunteers who mentor the young people as well as working with other agencies to ensure that young people and their families access appropriate support.

The Benefact Trust exists to make a positive difference to people’s lives by funding, guiding and celebrating the work of churches and Christian charities; empowering the most vulnerable and giving people, communities and places a renewed opportunity to flourish.

Ruth Julius, Chair of Breathe Youth said:

“We are so grateful to the Benefact Trust for their support. This funding will enable us to continue to deliver our mentoring programme and help more young people to take important steps that help them to thrive”
